Hello

For the next 4 years I will be exploring some of the sides of saprotrophic fungi that are usually hidden away underground. My main area of study is the morphology of fungal networks and to assess the significance which the differences of mycelium morphology have in explaining carbon use efficiency. I will begin by capturing and analyzing images of various fungal mycelia through image-processing algorithms. I will also be aided by Mark Fricker of the University of Oxford in replicating the microscopy imaging technique necessary for the fungal imaging process, to produce similar results in the laboratory of the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.
